Role of a Toastmaster & Master of Ceremonies

Having a toastmaster will not only add sparkle to your special day/event and photographs, it will allow you to fully relax and enjoy your occasion in the company of your friends, family and colleagues, safe in the knowledge you have a professional overseeing everything.

Before the day:

I will meet with you to discuss your requirements and to help guide you in planning the running order, with as little or as much tradition, formality and etiquette as you desire. Following this meeting I will produce an order of ceremony, which the venue and I will use to ensure everything runs smoothly on the day.

On the day:

I will arrive early to check that the venue has been set up as per your requirements, checking the table settings and place cards; and where appropriate ensuring the cake table, gift table and guest book are in place. I'll liaise with the venue to ensure the timings for the event, and oversee any other suppliers setting up such as the DJ or band.

I will be a welcoming face to greet and help your guests, and will assist the photographer to get everyone together for your photos. Once the drinks reception draws to a close I will call everyone through to the dinner and announce formal entries, such as the guest of honor or bride and bridegroom.

After dinner I'll introduce the speeches, announce the toasts and at a wedding supervise the formal cutting of the cake, before announcing the first dance. At a corporate or masonic event I will conduct the raffle or auction.

Throughout the day I will liaise with the venue, and your suppliers, ensuring a coordinated approach and resolving any issues that might arise.
